York Tree Warden Group

The York Tree Warden Group are part of a nationwide network of 8000 volunteers who organise local tree planting and conservation projects working with the Tree Council, the UK's leading tree campaigning body.

The York Tree Warden Group meets once every two months at the guildhall in the city centre to review past activities and discuss future programmes of tree-related events and social evenings.

The group has already been given free training days in tree biology, tree identification, tree pruning and planting sponsored by the city of York council. In return the groups helps cyc by acting as eyes and ears to help protect and preserve the cities treescape.

We are a friendly bunch of people of a mixed ages who welcome new members with environmental interests. Sadly few people are aware of the important benefits of our local trees and yet they are under constant threat from urban pressures such as new developments where space is not left for new or existing trees.

For more information on the benefits of trees see the leaflets below or join us by contacting our treasurer Ian Tel (01904) 634512.
